Picture this: It’s late December and our pokey little office is hot and stuffy. Everyone is running around trying to get last minute orders out. It’s that last minute hectic period where we are all exhausted but in a good mood thinking about Christmas, stone fruits and maybe even reading a book.
I’m then told to write a blog about how to go plastic free with your oral care in 2026. My initial reaction? Well that’s easy just buy Solid! How would that need a whole blog post?
However after a bit of obligatory new year reflection time I see the logic – so why and how can you go plastic free with your oral care in 2026?
#1 Let's start with the 'why'
Climate change is not something caused by others that doesn’t affect us. To a greater or lesser extent, we are all responsible. In saying that, I would be the first person to admit that stopping a few plastic toothpaste tubes from landfill will not magically fix the climate. But collectively our actions make a massive difference. Never discount that your actions matter and never underestimate how your actions influence others.
#2 Audit your bathroom, but also be realistic!
What are you already doing a great job with? Already use menstrual cups or been using shampoo bars for years? Can’t remember the last time you used liquid soap? That’s awesome! But also progress, not perfection. I – for example – have been using a specialist shampoo because I get an irritated scalp, but I’m OK with that because of the other swaps I’ve done. Always see how you can improve, but don’t beat yourself up about what is not possible either.
#3 Have a look at your accessories
Tongue scrapers, mouthwash, toothbrushes, and floss are all plastic heavy, especially in the packaging. If you’re a fan of our toothpastes, but haven’t checked out the accessories check them out here!
#4 Check out our excellent oral care quiz!
This is a fantastic way to determine what you need for your oral care routine and make sure you have the right Solid gear for it. A special shout out to our Teeth Whitening Kit which doesn’t always get the love it deserves – who doesn’t want to start the year off with nice white teeth! Take our quiz here.
There you go – four ways to go plastic free with your oral care in 2026. If you know anyone that might benefit from this blog, please share it with them. Look forward to making a small but powerful difference with all of you in 2026 and showing that every little bit helps 😊
